Hebron Lutheran Church - Madison, VA
1802
Tannenberg, who was seventy-four in 1802, did not travel to Madison to install this organ. In his place, he sent Philip Bachmann. According to the church records, the organ cost £200. The organ has remained largely unaltered and as a result, is the largest and clearest example of the type of organ Tannenberg provided for the Lutheran and German Reformed churches.
In 1970, the organ was reconditioned by George Taylor.
The stop list:

Gedackt | 8F. |
Principal | 4F. |
Flaute | 4F. |
Quinte | 3F. |
Octav | 2F. |
Terzan | |
Mixtur |
The Principal dulcis 8' has a stopped Quintadena bass and from tenor c, some of the pipes are in the facade. The Gedackt is stopped wood and the Flaute is open. The Mixtur is 2 ranks and has a single break at middle c. The Terzan is an unusual stop that was possibly meant to give a similar effect as adding a Trumpet. The rank begins at 1 3/5' and breaks to 3 1/5 at middle c. The effect of this stop is really quite splendid.
